Thought it would be nice to build a 5" gauge version of the Walker Diesel I made for the Garden Railway,
to go with out Mountaineer. In 5" gauge it works out to 7.2-1 which is a nice size to play with.
So far I've made some drawings of the bogie sides and other parts using the same scaled up
7mm scale drawings I used for the G scale model, and now I have started to cut the frames,
milling them out of 6mm thick mild steel.
The bodywork looks like being the biggest challenge due to the taper of the engine hood and the
helpfull way the cab bends back both in the horizontal and vertical (if you see what I mean!)
Building my own model in this sort of scale is a new thing for me, and if succesfull, I hope to
build a steam loco next!!!??
